How We Met

Daniel and Erin met in October 2004 at the UF Feminist Knitting and Crocheting Circle. Erin's friend Sonya brought her to knitting club in September. Two of Daniel's friends and former classmates encouraged him to join the club -- Elizabeth, who suggested it, and Charly, who brought him in October.

First Date(s)

One evening in March 2005, only Daniel and Erin had time for the traditional post-knitting club dinner.  They ended up in Steak & Shake for several hours, and both left feeling that, at some point, the dinner had become a date.  (That Steak & Shake has since been torn down... and a brand new Steak & Shake has been built in its place.)

A few days later, while Erin was working the customer service desk at Books-A-Million, Daniel came in to order some things -- including a real first date with Erin at Liquid Ginger, a local pan-Asian restaurant.  Dinner was followed by watching "The Muppets Take Manhattan" (Daniel's choice!) which just so happens to include a wedding. Foreshadowing much?

The Proposal

After a wonderful year together, Erin and Daniel again went to Liquid Ginger for their first -date-iversary. After dinner, Daniel proposed using a line from the song "Albuquerque" by "Weird Al" Yankovic, and Erin enthusiastically accepted.

"Sweetie-pumpkin, do you want to join the Columbia Record Club?"

"Whoa, hold on there, honey! I am *so* ready for that kind of commitment!"

"Well, if you're ready for that kind of commitment, will you marry me?"

"Yes!"
